how many paintballs will I fire in a day?

This is very difficult to say - the easiest answer is "It depends how trigger-happy you are!". We give you 100 paintballs included with the standard game fee so you can see what sort of player you are. Some players use 300 or 400 (or sometimes less) in a full day, and some can use 1000+, it really depends on the player. Of course you can just see how you go, and if you run out then it's up to you whether you get any more.

how fast do the paintballs travel?

This can vary depending on the type of marker (gun) being used, and the amount of propellant gas left, etc. but all of our site guns are checked with a 'chronograph' before being used at the start of the day. The chronograph measures the speed that the paintballs leave the barrel of the marker to ensure that they are within acceptable standards.

Our guns are chrono'd to an approximate speed of 250 feet per second, which is just over 170 miles per hour! This is the main reason that we must lay down and enforce such a strict set of safety rules - especially with masks, which are the most important piece of your equipment when playing paintball.

does it hurt when you get shot?

This depends really on how close the players are when the marker is fired, and the individual's tolerance to a small amount of pain. The best way to describe it is that it 'stings' - it is a short pain that goes away after a few seconds, sort of like someone firing an elastic band at you, or something like that.

The idea of paintball is NOT to get shot, so the small amount of pain caused when you get hit is really there to get the adrenaline pumping - there is just enough pain so that you do not really want to get shot - enough to make it fun!

Most players (even children) can easily tolerate the sting of getting shot, but it is something to consider and expect when you play paintball. It's all part of the experience!

how much does it cost?

The standard game fee is £10 and this is all that you need to get you started. Then additional paintballs can be purchased at the standard rates if required. This really depends on how trigger happy you are as a player! See the deals & prices page for more details.

what food and drink do we get?

As a local business we like to keep locals happy, so usually we serve oatcakes with a choice of hot fillings. We can cater for vegetarians too, if required. There is also free juice available all day, as well as tea and coffee (and soft drinks and chocolate, etc.) usually available at the shop for a reasonable price.

are you insured?

Yes, of course! We have up to £5 million Public Liability insurance. This covers players for any accidents or injuries they may have on our site. To help avoid any such occurrences we have a very strict safety policy, and a full safety briefing will be given to all players at the start of the day, prior to playing any games. The safety briefing highlights key points of safety that need to be adhered to at the site. All players must also sign a 'disclaimer' stating that they understand the rules that are set out in the safety brief.

All of our rules and safety precautions are set out by the United Kingdom Paintball Sports Federation (UKPSF), of which we are an official member.

is parking available on site?

Yes, there are a limited number of free parking spaces available at the site (enough for about 10 cars or so). Please note that you should not park on the main Garden Centre car park, as this is for their customers only (unless you feel like buying some plants on your way in or out, in which case, feel free!).

what sort of games do you offer?

Currently we have 4 woodland 'recreational' style game zones and a tournament-style Sup'Airball field. Each of the games have different scenarios, barricade layouts, strategies and objectives, to offer some variety in stytles of play. See the game zones page for more details.

is it indoors?

No, all of our game zones are played outside. We play in all weathers too!

do you do special occasion or birthday deals?

Yes, special arrangements can be made, if required. It's best to contact us by calling our events organisers to see what deals we can offer your group. Typical deals may include a small prize or a present for the birthday boy or girl, etc.

what is the age limit?

Players must be at least 12 years old on the day that they play. Those that are under 18 must have parental consent and have a parent or guardian sign the disclaimer before they can play. Only those aged 18 or above can purchase our smoke grenades, as they are classed as fireworks, and are subject to national pyrotechnics laws.

can you be accessed through Northwood Garden Centre?

Yes, in fact this is the only way to access the site. Turn into Northwood's drive and down through the first carpark, and follow signs to Paintball Evolution Parking a short way down the hill. The site itself is a little further down the hill. See the map and directions page for more detailed directions to the site.
